It Finally Happened

Former #1 Duke has finally been beaten, along with the rest of the unbeatens. Georgetown pulled off an amazing win beating Duke 87-84 on Saturday. I was especially happy because now the Hoosiers are still the last team to have a PERFECT season.

So Close, Yet So Far

Could the the Steelers/Colts game have been any closer? First off, what a comeback by the Colts. Atleast Joey Porter has some fuel for the fire now since they won. If you missed what he said, he criticized the Colts for playing "soft" in their Nov. 28 game, in which the Colts won. How can you say about a team that beat you that particular day? So anyway, back to the game. Jerome Bettis fumbles at the 2-yard line. If he scores, the game is over. Instead, Nick Harper picks up the ball and runs it down to the 40 yard line. Then, finally, one of the most reliable kickers in the game, Mike Vanderjagt, has a chance to tie the game with 17 seconds left. He misses the kick. Game over, and season over for the team that everyone picked to win the Super Bowl. I hope no one lost too much money off this game.

Why, just why?

Marcus Vick made possibly the dumbest move of his football career when he stepped on Louisville's Elvis Dumervil's calf. This was not the first time Vick's antics have got him in trouble. Virginia Tech officials stated it was his cumulative record of legal problems and unsportsmanlike conduct that led to his dismissal. Vick claimed the stomp, which was caught on tape, was "an accident." Now tell me how you can accidently look at the person who just tackeled you, who happened to be an all-American linebacker, lift up your leg, and proceed to thrust your spike cleats through his leg. That doesn't sound an accident to me. Though Vick appeared to be very appologetic about the situation, he had this to say: "That's okay, I'll just move on to the next level, baby!"

Wow what a great week of Bowl games

The Bowl week started with a classic featuring Florida State and Joe Paterno's Penn State team in the FedEx Orange Bowl. It was one of the longest in BCS history. It went in to 3 overtimes with missed field goal oppurtunities on both sides. Penn State finally captured the win with a field goal in the 3rd overtime, winning 26-23. Then came the big game. The Rose Bowl, featuring College Footballs top 2 teams, USC and Texas. The game definitely lived up to its hype. It was one big play after another. The story for USC was not Reggie Bush or Matt Leinart, but it was LenDale White. He carried the ball 20 times for 124 yards and 3 TDs. But the story of the game was Vince Young of Texas. He rushed for 200 yards, and threw for 267 yards, giving him 467 all-purpose yards. With 19 seconds left to play in the game, he scored on an 8-yard touchdown, giving his Longhorns the lead, and eventually the win. It also helped him secure the games MVP Award, which he certainly deserved. "It's so beautiful," Young said about his trophy. "Don't you think that's beautiful? It's coming home all the way to Austin, Texas."

Maurice Clarett has done it again

This guy just never stops does he? Maurice Clarett, former standout tailback for Ohio St., turned himself in to police for 2 charges of armed robbery. He was later released after posting $50,000 bond. Clarett alledgedly held a gun to a man and woman and demanded property from them near the Opium Lounge in downtown Columbus early Sunday morning. He fled the scene with two men in an SUV. No one was hurt, and only a cell phone was taken from the victims. Clarett is scheduled for a hearing on January 12th.
